Jakarta City Council's Commission E Member, Oman Rohman Rakinda encourages Jakarta Provincial Government to build more Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) ahead of National Children's Day on July 23, 2025.
The city government is already on its way
"The provincial government needs to build more open spaces, such as RPTRAs, in densely populated areas or slum areas. Since many children live in cramped housing, they need space to run around and play happily," he said, Friday (7/18).
According to him, open spaces such as RPTRA are not just places to play, but also safe spaces for children to express themselves, socialize, and grow healthily both physically and mentally.
Oman added that making Jakarta a child-friendly city requires more than just focusing on building physical facilities. More important is creating a social environment that supports the holistic development of children, including their psychological well-being.
"The city government is already on its way . But the facilities must be maintained and added up in several areas," he added.
He hopes that the Jakarta Provincial Government will strengthen social programs that support family resilience, enjoyable education, and a psychosocially safe environment for children.
As for information, Jakarta Provincial Government is currently continuing to evaluate the development of Child-Friendly Cities/Regencies (KLA) across its administrative areas, as part of its efforts to maintain the Child-Friendly Province (Provila) award. The award received in 2023 from the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPA).
This effort is also in line with Presidential Regulation Number 25/2021 about Child Protection, which includes 24 indicators across five main clusters: civil rights and freedoms; family environment and alternative care; basic health and welfare; education, leisure time utilization and cultural activities; and special protection for children.
