We educate the participants using interactive methods
Jakarta BBPOM Head, Sofiyani Chandrawati Anwar said this activity is an effort to increase public awareness of the importance of safe, nutritious and quality food.
"The collaboration of government, business actors and community in maintaining a safe food supply chain is important," she said, Thursday (6/12).
She explained, the issue of food security in Indonesia is still a serious challenge. Food security vulnerabilities ranging from the use of hazardous materials, contaminated food, to serious problems that often arise, namely foodborne diseases, such as diarrhea, food poisoning, and bacterial infections (Salmonella, E.coli and Listeria).
Therefore, Sofi emphasized the importance of increasing public knowledge and awareness in accessing safe food.
"We educate the participants using interactive methods regarding the introduction of hazardous materials in food and tips for choosing safe processed food," she added.
Participants were also invited to do a product checking simulation using the BPOM Mobile application and CEK KLIK (Check Packaging, Labels, Distribution Permits and Expiration Dates) before purchasing and consuming food products.
"Hopefully
this activity will also be a momentum to strengthen synergy in creating a safe and sustainable food system in Indonesia," she hoped.
