The Jakarta Transportation Agency, which installed 10 surveillance cameras (CCTV) in the Tanah Abang market area, has begun to show results.
Operator will coordinate with field officers to take swift action
In the days following the installation, illegal parking violations around Tanah Abang Market were reported to have decreased.
Jakarta Traffic Control System Management Unit (UPSPLL) Head, Yayat Sudrajat said, monitoring is conducted in real-time through the Network Operation Center (NOC) at the Abdul Muis Technical Service Building.
"As soon as vehicles parked indiscriminately are detected, the operator will coordinate with field officers to take swift action," he expressed, Wednesday (5/28).
According to him, CCTV was installed at several strategic points such as Jatibaru Street and Simpang Blok C, which have been prone to violations. With this technology-based monitoring, these areas are starting to become more orderly and smooth.
He explained, the decrease in violations is evidence of the effectiveness of the digital approach in supporting traffic order. He added, the installation of this CCTV is a concrete effort to utilize technology to enforce traffic order.
Besides creating a more orderly and safe Jakarta, this step is also a follow-up to the Governor's Pramono instructions who has directed enforcement involving Satpol PP and PPSU.
"Transportation Agency also emphasized its commitment to continue expanding the monitoring system to create a safe, orderly, and comfortable Jakarta for all road users," he stated.
