Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi stated will intensify the acceleration of coastal seawall construction in Muara Angke to handle tidal flood in residential.
Teguh added the construction budget has been prepared and is being discussed together with Jakarta City Council.
"It is hoped we can do the auction early to start the construction soon. We will speed up the construction next year," Teguh stated, as quoted from Jakarta Provincial Government's press release, Wednesday (11/20).
Teguh continued that Jakarta Provincial Government has taken quick steps to overcome tidal flood by making water channel to dispose the water into the sea.
"The water channel will flow the inundation water directly into the sea," Teguh added, while accompanying Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visiting Muara Angke, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.
During their visit, Teguh together with Gibran also reviewed the road and house condition of Muara Angke residents impacted by the tidal flood.
Meanwhile, Gibran stated that cooperation between various parties should be strengthened as an effort to handle tidal flood.
"Flood management is not just the responsibility of one generation, but a legacy that must be prepared for future generations. Therefore, every step must be designed with a long-term vision for a safer and more sustainable future," Gibran stated.
